Is the Pope the Antichrist?

I don't think the Pope can be the Antichrist, because the Antichrist will likely be accepted by the Jews as their Messiah. In order to biblically qualify, the Messiah must be of Jewish origin. Because the Pope heads an organization of one billion followers, it is very logical to conclude that the Pontiff will someday fulfill a major the role in the Antichrist’s false church.

"I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive" (John 5:43).

"And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only He who now letteth will let, until He be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the Spirit of His mouth and shall destroy with the brightness of His coming" (2 Thessalonians 2:6-8).
