| Do
we become angels when we go to heaven?
This is a very common myth that has
been largely popularized by cartoons. In the after
life, people are seen flying around with wings, carrying
harps, and resting on clouds.
The Bible does say we will be like
angels in some ways - the fallen angels like fallen
man will be judged someday by God and for both there
is no marital relationships in the eternal realm.
No where does it say we will become angelic beings.
Although there are only brief descriptions of the
roles humans and angels will have in heaven, the Bible
never once mentions the two groups as being interchangeable.
"Who shall change our vile body,
that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body,
according to the working whereby he is able even to
subdue all things unto himself" (Philippians
3:21).
"Beloved, now are we the sons
of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be:
but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be
like him; for we shall see him as he is" (1 John
3:2).
